Our comprehensive whole class music package provides schools with everything that is needed to meet the requirements of the new national curriculum. Through careful planning and delivery, we ensure that students have access to whole class woodwind, string and brass tuition which is backed up by a thorough study of music theory. All instrument and class resources are included in the price.

In addition to the classroom service, Sound Advice also offers a comprehensive package of instrumental lessons for students who would like to take an instrument further. Wherever possible, these lessons take place at the same time as whole class teaching which eliminates the potential impact that individual music lessons can have on other areas of the curriculum.

George Stanton (Violin and Viola)

First studying at Keele University, I was awarded an undergraduate degree in music with honours. After completing this, I went on to complete a Master’s degree in Music Research. With education in mind, I undertook a PGCE in Secondary Music and after completing my NQT year became Head of Department. Within a year I took on additional responsibility and became Faculty Leader for Performing Arts in a Performing Arts College. During this time I developed a strong team who delivered outstanding academic results and led a range of musical ensembles that performed locally, nationally and abroad.

Daisy Stickley (Woodwind)

First studying at York St John’s University I was awarded a BA (Hons) in Film and Television Production, focussing on music. In addition to a strong theoretical understanding of music I have completed ABRSM graded examinations in Flute, Alto Saxophone, Clarinet, Cornet up to and including Grade 8. I am passionate about ensuring that people of all abilities have access to musical opportunities and after graduating decided to take up a position at the ‘Visually Impaired Unit’ for Nottingham City Council. I currently work for a number of primary and secondary schools across Nottinghamshire and have helped many student pass their graded examinations. I give frequent concerts across the UK in both a professional capacity and for enjoyment I perform in a range of styles including vocal Jazz.

Fiona Stein (Vocals)

I am a Jazz vocalist who has worked internationally at high end corporate events and musical theatre shows. As an instrumentalist I trained in both classical violin and piano achieving grade 8 in both. Presently I work as a vocal coach in a number of local music schools which provide young people with the opportunity to perform in a full gig environment. Alongside this work I also work as a professional singer and recording artist.

Craig Bowen (Drums)

Since graduating in Music at Salford University in 2000, I have taught in many Nottinghamshire schools/ colleges as a drum tutor and drum workshop leader. In addition to this, I have a wealth of performing experience having worked professionally for over 20 years in many musical situations from jazz orchestras to rock bands, throughout the UK and Europe.

Tom Dempsey (Drums)

I am a professional drummer who has worked locally and internationally. I play in a range of styles including Jazz, Swing, Pop and Rock. I currently work as the resident drum tutor in a number of local music venues and deliver whole class drumming workshops. I am passionate about everyone having access to music and enjoy working with all regardless of ability or background.

Robert Deakin (Brass)

After achieving Grade 8, A.B.R.S.M. aged 15 I went on to study at Leeds College of Music achieving an M.A.in performance. During my professional life I have worked in a variety of styles and with a number of notable Bands including Glen Miller Band (U.K.), Memphis Belle Orchestra, The New Squadronnaires Orchestra to name but a few.

Natalie Stanton (Trumpet)

First studying at Keele University, I was awarded an undergraduate degree in Modern Foreign Languages. While at University I was actively involved with the music department and played in the Dance Band and Concert Band. With education in mind, I undertook a PGCE in Secondary Music at Nottingham University. While working in Nottinghamshire I became part of the Cavalier Dance Band where I am currently lead Trumpet. In addition to this I play for Newark and Sherwood Town Concert Band.

Robin Richards (Trumpet)

I am a professional trumpet teacher who has many years experience working with young people. I work with many local groups and ensembles including 12 to the Bar as either lead trumpet or musical Director. I am the resident brass tutor as at a number of independent and private schools in and around the East Midlands.

William Langdale (Guitar)

I am a guitar tutor with over 30 years teaching experience both private and in schools.I have taught over 50,000 lessons and transcribed over 4000 songs by ear for my students. All musical styles are covered from rock and pop to jazz and blues both fingerstyle and plectrum. For schools, I have prepared students for graded exams from Grade 1 to Diploma level, GCSE,AS and A2 exams for both performance and coursework and I have also taught whole class instrumental lessons and A Level music technology since its inception in the mid 1990’s.

Tom Pottage (Guitar)

I am an experienced guitar and drum teacher who has taught at every Key Stage up to and including university level. I have an extensive knowledge of recording and production techniques and teach music technology at various universities across the UK. I enjoy working with children of all backgrounds and love watching children develop as musical performers.

Vic Klimasevskij (Guitar)

I am a professional guitarist who has played both locally and nationally. I regularly work as part of a local Jazz combo and enjoy a strong local reputation. In addition to guitar I also teach drums and keyboard.

Chris Miggels (Guitar & Piano)

First studying in Nottinghamshire, I achieved a Higher National Diploma in Music Performance. I then went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree, graduating with first class honours. Successively, I secured a place at The University of Nottingham where I accomplished a Master’s degree in Music. I progressed to earn many other prestigious accolades; and have performed on world-renowned stages at notable events such as The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert held at The Royal Concert Hall, in addition to many more appearances at numerous distinguished venues.

Barry Lee (Guitar & Piano)

James Barrows (Piano)

I am a professional pianist and experienced piano tutor. Many of my students have gone on to complete music degrees and post graduate courses. My knowledge of music and instrumental resources has led me into music retail, where I am currently the owner and director of Music Scene Mansfield. I enjoy watching children develop as musicians and realise their potential.
